Talk of a “GPT-5.3” (sometimes paired with the alleged codename “Garlic”) is circulating online, but at the time of writing, none of this has been confirmed by OpenAI. What we can do is separate (1) what OpenAI has officially published about the current GPT-5.x line, (2) what the rumour mill is claiming about a possible 5.3, and (3) why a point-release could make strategic sense in a market where competitors are shipping meaningful updates at a rapid pace.
